Disease prevention is a Primary Care strategy, which becomes effective in the comprehensive care of persons. It considers the human being from a perspective biopsychosocial and interrelates the promotion, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and social reintegration with the different structures and levels of the National Health System.

Therefore, it is said that prevention implies promoting health, as well how to timely diagnose and treat a sick person, also rehabilitate him and avoid complications or consequences of his condition, through its different levels of intervention.

ParCare Community Health Network is a multi-specialty Diagnostic & Treatment Center providing such services as primary care, internal medicine, dermatology, physical therapy, and pediatrics; helping our patients to maintain optimal health and prevent potential diseases.

The mission of ParCare Community Health Network is to improve the lives of those in our care in a manner that is linguistically and culturally sensitive and tailored to the needs of the entire community we have the privilege of serving. ParCare Community Health Network services all those who might not otherwise have access to affordable medical care.

Preventive medicine is a combination of medical practices designed to prevent illness. It is a proactive approach to patient care. Doctors employ preventive measures to ensure that any illness is minimized and caught early so that the patient has the best chance of recovery and optimal health. Rather than treating conditions once they have arisen, preventive medicine means getting ahead of potential problems by promoting healthy behaviors and detecting illnesses to keep people from getting sick in the first place.

There are many methods for disease prevention, explain from ParCare Community Health Network. Children and adults are recommended to visit their doctor regularly for check-ups even if they feel healthy. This is so the doctor can perform disease screenings, identify risk factors for the disease, and discuss a plan for a healthy, balanced lifestyle, and stay up-to-date on vaccinations. The following services are available in preventive medicine:

  • Blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol tests
  • Cancer Screening Tests
  • Counseling for depression
  • Sexually transmitted infections
  • Routine vaccinations against diseases such as measles or meningitis
  • Healthy Pregnancy Counseling, Screening, and Vaccines
  • Flu shots

Preventive medicine can detect pre or early stages or chronic diseases, such as diabetes or heart disease. Getting screened is critical along with learning healthy habits, including eating right, exercising, and not smoking.

Preventive medicine can be beneficial for everyone. However, the benefits are different depending on the person’s health background and age. Before the age of 40, it is very important to have a close relationship with your doctor and provide information. People between the ages of 40 and 70 have a higher risk of developing chronic diseases.

Parcare’s medical staff is comprised of highly trained and certified physicians and specialists who will treat you with care and dignity. We have a profound respect for the relationship between doctor and patient — it is the source of currency in healthcare, and it’s the basis from which we have built our organization.
